Plettenberg Bay has an unrivalled natural beauty and unique marine life and deserves its title as the jewel of the Garden Route.
Our four beautiful sandy beaches, Central, Hobie, Look Out and Robberg are superb for both swimming and tanning and have some good waves for surfing or body boarding. They are also a great place to go for long walks away from the crowds and to soak in the wonderful views over the Indian ocean to the majestic mountain ranges beyond. Continue your walk along Robberg Peninsula (Nature Reserve) and find hidden away a wild, secluded beach. On the other side, huge schools of dolphin surfing the breakers or leaping clear of the blue sea, are a regular sight.
During the year, the Brydes and Killer whale visit occassionaly but from July to October, you can witness migrant Southern Right Whales which calve in the bay.
